
Devil’s Bit Hike
Located North-West of the town of Templemore this out and back hike takes in amazing views of the green fields of Tipperary. The mountain was named after local legend which states that the devil took a bite out of the mountain. As he was doing so he broke his teeth and spat out the Rock of Cashel from his mouth to where it now stands.

Anytime
Anytime on a clear day is amazing on top of Devil’s Bit with some amazing views -
Start at the Car Park
When you leave carpark go to your right and walk 300m to a T-Junction
Turn right and follow the road for around 800m till you arrive at a Y-Junction
Take the elevated road to the left and walk for around 1.5km until you come to another Y-Juntion.
Take the road to the right and continue walking for another 500m until you come to another Y-Junction
Follow the road to the left for another 1.5km until you come to a T-Junction
Take the right turn and follow the road for another 1.8km until you reach a Y-Junction.
Pass through the gate and walk along the gravel roadway for 400m
Pass through the gate and walk for another 400m till you come to cross junction
Go straight along on the elevated gravel path for another 100m until you come to a left turn
Take this left and carry along the narrow trail that includes steps and climbing over large rocks
This section does require use of hands to help climb
Note it is easy to lose where the trail is so caution is needed
Keep climbing until you reach the summit where the cross is located
